A 35-metre high indoor waterfall is the focal point of Britain's largest casino, opening in Coventry in the Heart of England on July 6. Twice the size of London's new Empire Casino which opened in late May, the 100,000 square-foot Isle Casino Coventry includes five bars, a live performance stage and three restaurants in an “exotic tropical themed environment”.

East Midlands Tourism welcomed yesterday’s announcement that the 2012 Olympics will be heading to London. Based on the Sydney Olympics it is estimated that the 2012 Olympics could contribute over £2 billion to Britain’s visitor economy.
The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) will hold an interactive Executive Forum in London on May 26, entitled Information for Tomorrow’s Strategic Travel Management. The event will feature interactive discussions on a variety of key topics, including the impact of London’s bid for the 2012 Olympic Games on travel infrastructure and its effect on the business travel sector.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will present a special treat for art lovers with the first major retrospective in the U.S. devoted to the drawings of the great Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens. The exhibition will bring together 115 of the finest and most representative drawings from European and American public and private collections.

As part of the festivities surrounding Belgium’s 175th anniversary, the Royal Museums of Art and History shed light on the evolution of Belgium’s decorative arts. Despite its diminutive geographical size, Belgium has been an extraordinarily active production centre for the decorative arts and enjoyed international fame in that area. The exhibition provides an overview of the decorative arts in Belgium from its foundation in 1830 through to the 1958 World Fair.

Annually since the year 1150, the historic city of Bruges has been attracting thousands of visitors to one of the great religious pageants in Europe, the Holy Blood Procession. For eight centuries the relic has been venerated by a mile-long procession of 1,500 Bruges citizens, many in the colorful medieval garb of Crusader or knight.

The Royal Greenhouses in Laeken cover six acres of neoclassical rotundas, domes and galleries. Twenty full time gardeners tend the giant ferns, fruit-bearing banana trees, grottoes, glades and grassy vistas. Highlights include the Azalea House, the rotunda, a colony of birds and the orange trees. Walkways are filled with climbing geraniums and fuchsias, whose blossoms form an overhead canopy. The visit ends with a short walk through the Royal Park.
