Britain\'s world-famous Royal Botanic Gardens is about to launch its very own beer, made with ingredients from its verdant grounds in Kew, southwest London.

Some 15,000 bottles of Kew Brew will go on sale May 2 at the gardens and at a nearby pub owned by Young\'s brewery, which created the beer from barley and hops grown a year ago at a special Kew exhibition dedicated to brewing.

When Young\'s agreed to sponsor the brewing display last year we didn\'t imagine the hops would end up in our own beer,\" said Jill Preston, a spokeswoman for the gardens.

\"Kew Brew joins a range of other recently launched Kew products including jams and chutneys. However, this has the magic touch of ingredients actually grown here.\"
