Carel Fabritius (1622 - 1654), Sept 24 - Jan 9, 2005.
Carel Fabritius, student of Rembrandt, was one of the most highly-gifted and multi-purposed Dutch painters of the 17th century. His work influenced the work of Johannes Vermeer, Pieter de Hooch and Emanuel de Witte. During the explosion of the Delft gunpowder warehouse in 1654 Fabritius died and most of his work was destroyed. For the very first time the complete remaining works of Fabritius will be shown in one exhibition.

This museum was build for the private collection of the founders. It is situated under a dune in Scheveningen. The collection exists of more than 800 statues of the human body (or parts of the human body). This spring the museum will open a public statue garden alongside the boulevard; SprookjesBeelden aan Zee (Fairystatues at the seaside).

Museum Beelden aan Zee (Statues at the Seaside) is in the process of building a terrace for the new public sculpture garden ´SprookjesBeelden aan Zee´ (FairyStatues at the Seaside). This sculpture garden is an initiative of the founders of the museum. The American artist Tom Otterness made twenty small sculptures and three large sculptures, of which the 33 feet tall ´The Herring Eater´ is the tallest.

In addition, the museum mounts an art-historical exhibition on the Peace Palace with three themes: the architecture and the interior of the Peace Palace and the art collection of the Carnegie Foundation.
