British passengers flying to Germany can take advantage of the escalating price war between the no-frills airlines. Even in the height of summer, fares are available for as little as £26 return.
In addition to the the six airlines surveyed here, operating out of London, many more offer routes from regional British airports. They include Germania, Cirrus Airlines and Hapag-Lloyd Express.
Our survey of economy fares for long weekends (Thursday to Sunday) to three German cities shows Ryanair to be cheapest to Berlin and Frankfurt, while Germanwings offers the best value to Cologne.
