McDonald\'s restaurants were the targets of bombs in two European capitals Thursday.
Italian police defused two small homemade bombs discovered in travel bags outside the restaurant in the outskirts of Rome.
Police said a leaflet left with the devices was printed with the five-pointed star of the Red Brigades guerrilla group.
Although the devices were not powerful, the Interior Ministry warned the timing could be significant.
Thursday marked the fifth anniversary of the murder by the Red Brigades of an adviser to the government on controversial labour reforms.
In Istanbul, an explosion shook a parking garage outside a McDonald\'s restaurant. Turkish television reports no one was hurt but showed two cars completely gutted by the explosion.
There were no reports on whether the two incidents were connected.
