Whoever said there are no heroes, is not of this world! Some rogues, daredevils and madcaps are still alive and amongst us - a variety of them will challenge each other splendidly in Hamburg on August 22nd at Red Bull’s 5th Aviation Day. It will be high time to crown Germany’s most resourceful hobby aviator. Never before have there been that many applications. 1.200 wannabe-pilots, bundled up in 220 teams, tried to win the jury’s grace with numerous drafts of flying nutshells.

It’s been tough on the jury to choose from this abundance those ideas, deemed most original and most likely to succeed. The 40 teams cleared for a maiden flight takeoff on Red Bull’s Aviation Day in Hamburg’s HarbourCity will all depart from a six meter high ramp. The flight will terminate in the river Elbe.

Ingenuity, vision and flight performance will be judged by the jury for scoring. They will watch with eagle eyes over each and every step of the flight – from departure til arrival – a great challenge for all those self-appointed heroes of the sky and their more or less flying nutshells.

The Red Bull Aviation Day not only attracts more and more selfmade-engineers but each and every time a larger audience, too. Last year in Berlin 100.000 spectators alone stormed the extraordinary show. In Hamburg now numerous aviation day fans are anticipated. Takeoff will be on August 22nd at 11:00h at HarbourCity (admission at 10.30h).
