100 YEARS OF NORWAY 2005 marks the centenary of the peaceful dissolution of the Union between Norway and Sweden and events throughout the UK will be marking the occasion. The programme will include music festivals, theatre performances and seminars, including:

· Style and Splendour- Queen Maud of Norway's Wardrobe 1896-1938 A free exhibition at London's Victoria and Albert Museum. Maud was well know for her fashion style and her clothes document an era of fashion history from elaborate Victorian dress to the streamlined chic of the 1930s. · Nordic Adventures: Norway with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall celebrating Norwegian music headed by Nils Økland playing Geirr Tveitt's folk music inspired 'Three Fjords' (Feb. 16, 7.45pm, tickets from £10, tel: 0870 401 8181, www.rfh.org.uk)

· Ibsen's 'Heddar Gabler' directed by the former director of the National Theatre, Richard Eyre, at the Almeida Theatre (March 10-April 30, tickets from £6, tel: 020 7359 4404, www.almeida.co.uk)

Other events include a Norwegian Symposium at the Edinburgh International Book Festival; a photographic documentary at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff; and Norwegian crafts at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln.
