Just opened at London's Jewish Museum in Finchley, Connections - Hidden British Histories is a new exhibition documenting the relationships, connections and shared experiences of Britain's Asian, Black and Jewish communities, their shared experiences of immigration and settlement and their fight against discrimination and oppression.
It also celebrates the music, comedy, food and language of the three communities, and demonstrates that, although there may have been tension, prejudice and competition among the minority groups, there have been many incidences of co-operation, mutual learning and support. The exhibition runs until 30 January 2005.
Also running until 27 February is a new exhibition marking the 200th anniversary of Benjamin Disraeli. Disraeli - a Man of Many Parts is an exciting and humorous exhibition illuminating key aspects in the life of Queen Victoria's favourite prime minister, or 'the Sphinx', as he was known to his contemporaries.
The exhibition, which gives a fascinating insight into Victorian Britain, includes loans from private collections, as well as from the House of Lords.
