Celebrating 4000 years of Chinese history and cultureGlasgow's Burrell Collection will be staging the city's first major Chinese exhibition, exploring and celebrating 4000 years of Chinese history and culture through Sir William Burrell's world-class collection of Chinese art. The exhibition also explores China's faiths, the Silk Road, contact between China and the West up to the present day, and celebrates the Chinese community in Glasgow today.

A series of free lectures, adult and children workshops, interactive zones, school workshops and performances by specialists, will give everyone the opportunity to see many aspects of China's past and present. Two different theme tours based on the Chinese art at the Burrell Collection will take place throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Rare Exhibits
The exhibition features 150 objects from Sir William Burrell's Chinese Collection, ranging from earthenwares, bronzes, ceramics and jades, as well as a Chinese painting and textile, many of which are on display for the first time. Loans from The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and The Oriental Museum in Durham are also featured in the exhibition.
