Midsummer Magic'Midsummer Magic', a seafood festival and a tribute to Lord Nelson and the men of Trafalgar are just three of the events visitors to the Channel Island of Guernsey can enjoy this year. As part of the SeaBritain 2005 celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of Lord Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar, from Easter to late October, Guernsey and the surrounding islands of Herm, Alderney and Sark will be putting on a calendar of events and festivals linked to their maritime history.

Highlights include:

· Flying the Flag – Easter Festival including lifeboat pull, sand sculpture and historical re-enactments (March 26-April 3)
· Liberation Day – Carnival and firework spectacular to mark the 60th anniversary of Guernsey’s liberation at the end of World War II (May 9)
· Trafalgar Weekend – celebrates Lord Nelson and his men with events on land and sea (Oct. 21-23)

One of the 'Midsummer Magic' events – Big Screen Picnics – will see giant screens being located around the island’s beaches to show popular maritime movies and live music acts (June 28-July 10) while a month long Seafood Festival in July highlights the wealth of good seafood from the island’s restaurants.
