However, most people who choose to come to beautiful Barcelona probably aren’t looking to go around counting how many people they bump into, in fact quite the opposite, as it is very easy to find yourself in a quiet area of this city freely admiring some of the magnificent architecture that is on show. Some of the historic buildings that can be seen include the likes of the Cathedral of Saint Eulalia, which dates back to around the 13th century when most of the construction work was carried out. Just viewing this building from the outside, it is easy to spot because there are rows of gargoyles adorning the roof area and this of course makes a terrific photo opportunity. It is also of note that the body of Saint Eulalia is entombed here.

Most of the main sites when visiting Barcelona for the histrionic value are to be found in the Gothic Quarter, which is in the centre of the old city of Barcelona. Here it is not uncommon to stumble upon things that even the best of tour books don’t feature, so much is the wealth of beauty available. To be fair, you would be hard pushed to take it all in within a relatively short city type break – and most people will come back time and time again to marvel at what this great city has to offer.

They are currently enjoying a brilliant time, being well ahead (in most people’s views) their fellow countrymen in Madrid, this rivalry is to be seen to be believed, especially if you time your visit to Barcelona to coincide when the Clasico show is in town!
